Oceanus, in Greek mythology, is a primordial Titan who personifies the vast, encircling river believed to encompass the world. He is depicted as a colossal figure representing the outermost bounds of the earth and the source of all fresh water, including rivers, lakes, and wells. As an offspring of Uranus (Sky) and Gaia (Earth), Oceanus holds a unique place among the Titans, being less involved in their conflicts and more aligned with the natural order. He is often portrayed as a bearded god with the lower body of a serpent, symbolizing the endless flow of water. Together with his sister and consort, Tethys, Oceanus fathered numerous river gods and ocean nymphs, reinforcing his integral role in the Greek cosmology of water.
